No Recording of Any Kind

Dr. Michael Johnson is a great presenter. I love his style and anecdotes. I've seen him present at 4 or 5 WWDCs over the years. Unfortunately these sessions are protected under NDA and are not available for re-broadcast anywhere. Dr. Johnson is particularly good because he primarily talks about creating technology solutions to real world business workflows.

Pictures from WWDC Beer Bash Concerts 2004 - 2010

Each year Apple hosts a little corporate private party for the end of WWDC. It used to be back on the Apple Campus but for the last few years it has been held at the Yerba Buena Gardens. I've taken some pictures each year. Sometime the quality is not very good like my 2005 picture taken on my Sony Ericsson cell phone. The iPhone pictures are better but I prefer the pictures taken with my Canon.

OK Go Plays WWDC Bash

OK Go

I took some pictures durning the WWDC Bash (formerly known as the Campus Bash) this year in Yerba Buena Gardens. The band OK Go played. They were really good. I wish their set had been longer.

168 Hours Until WWDC 2010

With just over a week left until Steve Jobs takes the stage for the keynote address at this years annual World Wide Developer Conference (WWDC) in San Francisco, I am thinking about what we might see. After every keynote there is always a short-lived euphoria that results from being inside the reality distortion field followed but a postpartum depression. There are usually two results from a WWDC. Either you are blown away by something that no one knew was coming or you are disappointed because all the crazy rumors did not come true.

I heard the new target for AAPL was $300. I'm starting to believe that.

Waiting for the WWDC 2010 Date Announcement

ipadwwdc10.gif

Each year Apple holds its World Wide Developers Conference. This conference used to be held in San Jose but had to be moved to San Francisco when it got too big. Attendance tops out about 5,000 developers who descend each summer to Moscone West. The conference date floats between May and June. Apple announces the date of the conference ten weeks before. Last year the conference was announced on March 26th and the date was June 8th. Rumors abound from people trying to guess the date. So here we are a year later and there is still no announcement from Cupertino.

Barenaked Ladies played a private concert at Yerba Buena Gardens for the WWDC Bash -- formerly known as the Campus Bash. Every year Apple schedules a band and keeps it a secret until they take the stage. Prior year bands have included the Wallflowers and Ozomatli. The Bash used to be held at the Apple Campus. When Apple moved WWDC to the Moscone in San Francisco they continued the tradition by chartering a hundred busses to drive 5000 people to San Jose. After a couple years of this the Bash was moved to Yerba Buena Gardens.

GTD with OmniFocus

Merlin Mann

I'm a recent convert to the Getting Things Done (GTD) methodology. I have heard a lot about it from listening to Leo Laporte podcasts. I did some investigation. I bought David Allen's book. I have tried using the methodology using just iCal and am now trying iGTD and iCal. I recently learned about OmniFocus. This product seems to do things better than iGTD -- for me anyway. While at WWDC, I heard about a small event to show off the product. I made my way over to the Westin. There I found Merlin Mann of 43folders fame, Ken Case of OmniGroup, and Ethan Schoonover of Kinkless GTD.
